About Speech and Language Therapy NL

Speech and Language Therapy NL was born out of a desire to provide a great service to English-speaking clients in the Netherlands.

Your Child is the Focus

Too often, therapists are faced with the reality of having too many children to see, meaning not enough time can be given to each child; and parents, caregivers and teachers are not kept in the loop.

At Speech and Language Therapy NL, we keep our caseload small which allows us to dedicate more time to the kids and families we work with so we can provide our best possible care.

We Work Together

For speech and language therapy to be most effective, it’s crucial that all important adults are involved. For this, good communication, parent engagement and support from teachers is needed.

Learning from each other takes time. We believe that we have a lot to learn from you, and that equipped with this knowledge, we can better help your child.

Finding the care your child needs in a country that’s not your own can be hard.  We want to make that easier.

Based in Amsterdam, we offer school-based,and online English-speaking speech & language therapy services  within the Netherlands.

Understanding your child’s needs is our highest priority. As well as getting to know them, we invest in getting to know you and your family so we have the full picture.

About Mia

I’m an English-speaking speech and language therapist from Australia. I completed my studies at The University of Sydney and am a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia.

My husband and I moved to the Netherlands in 2019 for his work. We both have Dutch heritage and decided that we would love to experience life in the Netherlands, and this prompted the move. Since moving here we have welcomed our first child.

I’ve always loved being around kids and have looked after them for as long as I can remember.

This is part of the reason that I love being a speech and language therapist.  I love getting to know families, and think this is integral to properly supporting a child. I work with children of all ages and am especially passionate about the early intervention (ages 1-3) and pre-school age group. I am Hanen trained in the ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ program.

I abide by Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics and comply with the standards required for professional/clinical practice.

If you have any questions, please feel free to say hello via the contact page.
